Difference between Wired and Wireless System

The word “wireless” here doesn't actually mean that the equipment has NO wires at all even though many of the wireless systems have no visible wiring.

“Wireless" means that the camera is plugged into (or integrated with) a wireless video transmitter which sends the signal to its corresponding receiver, which is normally limited by the distance and the thickness of the pillar at home.

"Wired" means that the camera is physically plugged into the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) itself in order for it to record. Hence, it definitely can record no matter distance, wall thickness, etc.

Pros & Cons of Analog & IP Cameras

  Advantages Disadvantages
Analog Camera

Low Cost – generally cost lesser than IP Camera

Greater Flexibility of Design – Often comes in larger variety of designs such as mini covert cameras to large PTZ models.

Superior compatibility – easier to mix and match brands; makes it more convenient if you have existing CCTV system and wants to incorporate into the existing system.

Lack of certain features – often lack some of the more advanced features like digital zoom

Long distance applications are more costly – analog cameras normally are cable bonded, hence laying cables over a big area and long distance may incur more cost.

IP Camera

Why We Don’t Do Concealed Ceiling Job

Concealed cablings may make your house look neat and free of cables. However, it is difficult to do concealed cabling once renovation of the house is completed, reason being that

  1. Multiple holes have to be open to pull all the cables inside.
  2. Closing back the hole consumes a lot of skills, time and manpower. We are specialized in CCTV installation, not renovation contractors.
  3. Color of the concealment might not be the same as the previous colour, and we do not paint back the ceiling with the definite same color paint.

We normally do surface run on cablings, which we will cover the exposed cable with the PVC casing or PVC conduit.

Frequent Asked Questions

What is CCTV?

CCTV or Closed Circuit Television refers to a visible or covert video system intended for only a limited number of viewers. In Closed Circuit TV (CCTV), the picture is viewed or recorded, but not broadcast.

CCTV is most commonly used for surveillance. Security Cameras are now universally featured in many public and private institutions, from a correctional facility to the convenience store. It has become so much less expensive over the years that both large and small stores are able to install cameras as a deterrent against theft and robbery.

Today, CCTV has been developed to the point where it is simple and inexpensive enough to be used with in both residential and commercial, for a peace of mind in everyday surveillance.

What are the different CCTV Cameras?

There are 4 major types of cameras, namely: Dome Camera, Infrared (IR) Camera, Tube Camera and PTZ Camera.

Dome Camera – Output of the images are in color and it can only works when there are light. Suitable for day use and use in condition where light is always on.

Infrared (IR) Camera– This camera enables you to view images even in total darkness. However, the distance that you will be able to view is much shorter than the distance viewed during normal condition. The output of the images is in color when the surrounding area is lighted. When the surrounding is in total darkness, the images will then become black and white.

Tube Camera – Output from the image is in color. Depending on the lens used, it can be a Day & Night or Day only camera. The advantage of using a Tube Camera is that you can use different lens (zoom lens or general lens) for different purpose.

PTZ Camera – Choosing this camera allow you to view a whole area of the premises. You will be able to control the camera to pan 360°, tilting up and down. It can work during night time with minimal night. Normally, it has at least 25x or more zoom function which allows you to zoom towards the object/ item.

What are the different types of CCTV lenses, and how does one choose which lens to use?

There are 3 types of lenses, namely Fixed Aperture, Auto Iris and Zoom lens.

Fixed Aperture Lens – If the areas the Security Camera will be observing experience constant lighting, you may use a fixed aperture lens. These lenses do not adjust to the light changes. What you see is what you get.

Auto Iris Lens – If the area the Security Camera will be observing experiences frequent changes in light, use an auto-iris lens. These lenses adjust to light changes automatically.

Zoom Lens – To perform close-ups view, get a zoom lens which you can zoom in to the particular area for viewing. But remember, if you look at specific items, you will miss out on the general items.
